About this Site

This site is an archive of messages sent to the Honyaku mailing list going back to 1994. Asako Mizuno kindly began the archives at http://www.saglasie.com/tr/honyaku/, but she stopped updating it, making a new site necessary.

There are currently 224,828 messages in the archive, going back from 1994 to the present. New posts are added to the archive automatically, which should keep it safe from decrepitude due to lack of maintainers.

Acknowledgements

The Honyaku archives owe an enormous debt to Tom Gally, who thoughtfully kept an archive of Honyaku posts from the very beginning. Asako Mizuno's vision in creating a searchable online archive, and her hard work and dedication in maintaining it (by hand!) are what has made the current archive possible. Jim Breen's advice, help, and encouragement were instrumental in getting the archive online. He personally processed a large volume of email in order to make it suitable for importing into the archive. Wolfgang Bechstein provided emails for April 2006 to July 2007, and several other helpful Honyaku subscribers provided the posts from August to October 2007.

About the Developer

This site was developed by Ryan Ginstrom, with much help from the people listed above. Ryan keeps possibly the world's only blog on programming and translation, and is the developer of the Felix translation memory system.
